Recipe of the week: Ricotta Cheese

Mmmmm, ricotta...

Did you know you can make this yourself?

Did you know it's crazy easy to do?

I might be a little weird, but I get a big thrill out of making my own stuff-- stuff that most people assume you've got to buy: cleaning products, bread, jam, nutella, granola, yogurt, and now, ricotta cheese. I happen to like my versions of these things much more than store-bought, and I save a ton of money too!

Try this ricotta recipe and you'll never go back. (note: vinegar can be substituted for the lemon juice, and while the milk/cream combo is definitely the tastiest, you can use straight milk.)

Now go make some of these, or your maybe your favorite lasagna. (or both!)

Thanks for the hint! I'm going to try it. I like making things too, and my list is similar to yours. I've also had good success making my own almond milk. I found the instructions here: http://www.instructables.com/id/SKDHFLIG0IPXEUW/

Just for comparison's sake, I bought a quart at the store and did a blind taste-test on my husband. He liked the homemade better. (And so do I!)
