Here's a recipe for all you snow-bound kiddies. We tried it a couple of weeks ago after a mamoth snow storm, and you can try it too, just be sure to wait for fresh snow and not the nasty gray stuff that's been hanging around these days. (this also works on shaved ice or ice cream for all you snow-challenged folks) Seriously, this is awesome stuff!
Snow Candy (via wondertime)
1 c. real maple syrup
1/4 c. butter
1. Heat the syrup and butter in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring to avoid a boilover. (Heating syrup is strictly a parent's job.)
2. The mixture is ready 6 to 7 minutes after it boils (220 to 234 degrees on a candy thermometer). It should stiffen when dripped onto a plate.
3. Remove from heat and cool for 2 minutes before pouring over the snow, ice cream, or ice. It cools so quickly that kids can taste it right away.

That is so funny! When I read the title I thought the same thing, with this air? It would definitely be toxic snow candy. Last time you made snow candy, Joe said it was awesome. I still haven't made the cute tortilla snowflakes yet. Thanks for the good ideas.
My grandpa used to make snow candy for us pretty often. We used toothpicks to eat it, which kept hands a little cleaner.
